{finding Him}

Sometimes it seems like we spend our whole lives chasing things.  We chase after relationships, good grades, partying, or something else... it's different for everyone.  There is this void in our lives that we try to fill with things that will never be able to do the job, things that will never make you feel satisfied.  I'm guilty of this.  Lately, I've been chasing relationships... trying to find a guy that is interested in me, who wants to pursue me and take the time to invest in me. Now, don't get me wrong- I've gone out with some really great guys in the last few months, it's just that none of them were right at the time.

In the last few days I've realized something though.  A guy is never going to fill this void in my life, no matter how perfect he is.  Why are we so focused on finding "the one" when the only one we truly need is already in love with us?  And, He loves us more than anyone in this world ever could.  What more do we need?  Why don't we use this time of singleness to share & show God's love?  We, as humans, crave love and community and attention... Why don't we satisfy those cravings with a community of believers who can love & encourage us instead of searching for satisfaction in a guy.  This time is an opportunity to make friends, to love people, and to trust that God will bring a guy in His timing.  Until then, take time to pray for him, to pray that God will prepare you & mold you into the person you need to be.

This song came on Spotify the other day and I've heard this song and similar ones multiple times since...  I think that Lecrae says something we all probably need to hear.

"Like That" by Lecrae

"Ladies, if Song of Solomon had never been written
And you never saw how men were supposed to cherish their women
And look at Ephesians 5 where they nourish their wives
Is he really that type of guy or are you rationalizing?
Our God deserves glory, greatest of love stories
He's more than movies and TV, believe me He knows your needs.
He provided His only Son when we ain't deserve it
He loves you on your worst days, you know He perfect.
So hold on, and be content, you got the greatest. You single?
Don't give it away 'cause your life was made for the maker.

What you got is a gift, don't waste it
Temptation be lookin' good, don't taste it
I told you back in '05 you should've waited, waited, waited
Haha, you remember wait? Hey, if you lookin' for love, you need to find God."

So in conclusion, I challenge you to be content in your singleness.  Be confident that God will bring a guy into your life at the right time.  Don't be so focused on finding someone that you miss everything else that is going on around you.  Pray for the guy God is preparing for you. And most importantly, invest your time & energy in loving God & loving people.
